Print: A Fruit Piece In the Cabinet at Houghton from The Houghton Gallery Date:1781 Richard Earlom (British, 1743-1822)After Jan van Huysum (Dutch, 1682-1749) Reproduction metzograph on paper mounted on backboard. after a 1723 painting titled A Fruit Piece in the Cabinet at Houghton Size 18"x23" Condition is fair with some scuffing on edges. Richard Earlom was one of many talented printmakers to work on John Boydell’s massive printing project to reproduce Sir Robert Walpole’s painting collection at Houghton. (The original works were sold to Catherine the Great and are now in the State Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg.) Earlom was particularly favored for his ability to re-create painterly tones in his mezzotints, as is evidenced by this Fruit Piece and Flower Piece. (Extra shipping charge required)
